Finally, LG came out with the successor of its most popular device, the LG Cookie KP500
. The LG GS500 Cookie Plus
will try to follow the footsteps of the original Cookie, which was able to sell more than 10 million units worldwide in just over a year.
This is mainly because the phone comes with all the standard features you've come to expect from a touch screen device, and yet comes with a very affordable price tag to entice users especially during this time of economic uncertainty. The new Cookie's phone was announced only last February 10 and is set for general market release during the first few days of March.
What Does It Look Like?
Of course, there are people that prioritize the appearance of the phone when making choices of which unit to buy. Thankfully, this phone does not disappoint with its eye-catching design that is both fun and functional. It is made of the same plastics as the original Cookie, which makes it really pleasant to touch. Though it is a bit larger than the original, coming in at 107 x 52.5 x 11.5 mm and weighing in at 92 grams, it is still one of the slimmest phones available.
It features a wide 3 inch TFT touch screen display with WQVGA resolution of 240 x 400 pixels and colour support of 262K. The buttons you'll find at the bottom of the touch screen are all raised for easy use, and features the most frequently used buttons in a mobile phone. The top has a 3.5 mm headphone jack as well as a standardmicroUSB port.
What Sets It Apart from the Original?
Of course, if you're planning to convince current Cookie users to upgrade, the key is to provide compelling reasons to do so by adding functionalities and features that are not in the original. One of the most significant changes is that it comes with a more fun, cartoony user interface, which looks a lot like what you'll find in the Samsung Corby. If you like having large, interesting icons to play around with, then you'll surely like the interface in this phone. There are a lot of other changes that you will surely love.
What Features Does This Phone Offer?
This phone features SNS functionality, which integrates all the most popular social networks such as Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and Flickr. It has LiveSquare, which basically works as a register containing all the latest messages and calls that you received. It has a standard multimedia player that supports MP3, WMA, RA, AAC, AAC+ and MPEG4 formats for audio and video. It has a 3.5 mm headphone jack to give you the choice of listening to your favourite radio show or music using your earphones.
It also has a 3.0 megapixel camera that comes with digital zoom and can be used to capture video clips. The question is whether this phone will be able to match the success of the original Cookie. Since the price is not yet announced, it is difficult to guess at this point.
