Palm TX HandheldThe Palm TX is a state-of-the-art handheld PDA. It is nice and light and jammed packed full of features including some fantastic multimedia applications. The T
X has a 320 x 480-pixel clear and sharp touch screen with the Palm input interface receded at the bottom of the screen to give more screen space. The stylus is firm and comfortable in hand. The Palm TX is also incredibly light yet still retains a remarkable amount of power.

The TX has a 312-MHz Bulverde processor and 128MB of flash memory so it has the engine to run smooth and fast. Unlike the iPhone, the SD slot allows for an expansion of memory. The TX has both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built in, and can connect to a local networks just as easily as a laptop. Plus it has non-volatile memory meaning your data will survive a complete battery rundown, unlike older Palm and Pocket PCs.

TX runs a great deal of applications. These include a Documents-to-Go program that works for Excel, Word, and PowerPoint files. Plus naturally it has an assortment of contact managers and a great calendar. Further to this it has an expense tracking function called VersaMail. It also has AddIt tool, which buys software offline and pulls it down to your X the next time you log onto your network and HotSync. Along side these programs is Avvenu from Palm, which is a free service that links to your own PC files remotely, including music files.

The TX has video, photo and audio playback which supportd a wide range of image and video types, including JPG, BMP, TIFF, MPEG codecs, and QuickTime. The music playback device is very solid as it uses Windows Media Player 9.0 to arrange and manage play lists. The single speaker on the TX is good but the audio quality on headphones is excellent.
