The Blackberry Pearl is very stylish with a glossy black finish. The Pearl is named after the pearl-like trackball has been introduced to let you scroll horizontally introducing a whole new dimension to the Blackberry range. It is one of the smallest smartphones on the market and is not lacking in substance.


Because of its small size, the Pearl uses a modified QWERTY layout on a 4-row, 5-column keypad which is surprisingly easy to type on with the SureType technology. It offers great features that allow you to connect with e-mail, the internet, instant messaging, Storm like interface and even multimedia features including video playback and an integrated 1.3-megapixel camera with flash.

With all of these features, expandable memory is a must and the Pearl has a micro SD slot for just that.

There is a USB port and headphone jack on the left. There are programmable keys and also a volume toggle on the right. There’s a button at the top of the screen that can be used to mute incoming calls and lock the keypad also. Call quality on the Pearl is great. The speakerphone and the voice prompt features, not featured on the Curve are very user friendly and accessible. The battery life is impressive also. As the battery is quite large, it can last days between charges. While the Blackberry Pearl resembles the Blackberry Bold, it's a lot more sleek and user friendly.
